Warehouse / CDL Backup Driver
About the role
We are hiring a Warehouse/Backup CDL Driver in Columbia, SC. The position involves operating a forklift, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment, delivering compressed and liquid gas cylinders, and enforcing safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Taking pride in the safe loading, delivery, and handling of high-pressure and cryogenic gas cylinders.
- Maintaining a dedicated commitment to hazardous material safety standards and DOT vehicle inspections.
- Stocking, labeling, picking, packing, and distributing materials and supplies.
- Physically receiving, checking, and storing delivered materials in the warehouse; conducting regular inventory checks.
- Enforcing policies for proper receipt, storage, and distribution of materials, reviewing invoices.
- Operating a forklift, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment.
- Strictly observing safety rules and adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Delivering compressed gas cylinders and liquid cylinders on a scheduled route to customers.
- Loading and unloading trucks, retrieving empty cylinders, and returning them for refilling.
- Maintaining accurate vehicle documentation and a professional appearance.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Class A CDL with HAZMAT endorsement or willing to obtain within 60 days of hire.
- At least 1 year of verifiable commercial driving experience within the last 5 years.
- Successful completion of Airgas Background and Motor Vehicle Check.
- DOT Clearinghouse verification from previous employers is required.
- Able to routinely lift 25 – 75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 100 lbs.
- Willingness to work outdoors in changing temperatures.
- Ability to maintain a drug-free workplace.
- Adherence to safety regulations and policies.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Forklift Experience.
- Touch freight delivery experience preferred.
