Warehouse (Backup Driver)

About the role

Summit’s warehouse associates play a pivotal role in fulfilling customer needs by receiving new material, picking orders for will-call or delivery, managing inventory, and providing backup driver support. This is an entry-level branch position designed to introduce you to the business, build product knowledge, and develop skills for future opportunities at Summit.

Responsibilities

• Pull customer tickets to fulfill orders
• Prepare orders for shipment
• Receive and stock products daily to replenish inventory
• Understand products, their capabilities, and warranties
• Assist sales associates in fulfilling customer orders
• Maintain a clean and organized warehouse and outdoor areas
• Uphold safe practices and Summit’s commitment to a safe workplace
• Provide backup driver support, including safe delivery of products to customer locations
• Maintain a clean vehicle, driver logs, and vehicle inspection reports
• Use an iPad to review orders and collect signatures
• Load and unload Summit trucks

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Excellent driving record
• At least 21 years of age
• Valid Driver’s License
• Strong time management and ability to organize multiple priorities
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
• Flexibility and ability to adapt to change
• Strong customer service orientation

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous warehouse or driver experience
• Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision
• Aptitude for learning
• iPad or tablet experience

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly
• Ability to operate standard warehouse equipment
• Ability to operate commercial vehicles

Pre-employment assessments, drug and background screens, and a DOT medical exam (for drivers) are required. Professional appearance is expected.
