About the role

The Warehouse Associate/Truck Driver I is responsible for efficiently and accurately filling customer orders, receiving, stocking, staging, and shipping material while meeting company standards for safety, security, accuracy, and productivity. This role also handles all warehouse transactions and maintains the branch warehouse environment and equipment. A significant portion of the role involves operating a delivery vehicle (up to 50% of the time) to deliver products to customers, company branches, and suppliers using a delivery van or box truck (no CDL required). The position ensures deliveries are prepared correctly, materials are damage-free, and all documentation is completed accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a culture and environment focused daily on employee safety and a safe work environment.
  • Follow established Standard Operating Procedures and Environmental Health and Safety Rules; address safety concerns immediately.
  • Receive material from vendors, customers, or other warehouses; verify quantity and description against packing lists.
  • Stock incoming orders on shelves in an orderly manner and report freight damage claims.
  • Prepare branch orders from the warehouse, ensuring correct product type and quantity.
  • Process shipment paperwork, including verifying merchandise, applying postage/labels, following customer instructions, and insuring shipments.
  • Operate machinery such as forklifts, reach trucks, and wire cutting machines when required.
  • Load common carrier and company vehicles.
  • Inspect and perform minor maintenance on equipment.
  • Perform inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Operate delivery vehicles to transport products to/from customers, company branches, and suppliers.
  • Inspect company vehicle for defects; complete daily inspection reports.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness, service, and repairs; alert supervisor of issues.
  • Follow Department of Transportation (DOT), local, and state driving laws and regulations.
  • Load/unload vehicle, ensuring correct material quantity and type, and damage-free condition before departure.
  • Assist in preparing orders for delivery as needed.
  • Complete all delivery documentation, including signed delivery receipts, packing lists, and manifests.
  • Pick up material returns from customers; inspect condition, verify quantities, and catalog numbers.
  • Pick up material from company suppliers.
  • Participate in training entry-level Truck Drivers; provide mentorship and coaching.
  • Perform other branch duties as required, including counter sales and customer support.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • No prior experience required; warehouse experience is a plus.
  • Certification to operate forklifts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Must pass pre-employment and annual Motor Vehicle Record review.
  • Must obtain a non-expired medical certificate as required by law within 30 days of hire.
  • No suspended driver’s license for traffic accidents/violations in the past 3 years.
  • No at-fault accidents in the past 3 years.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
