Warehouse Associate (Part-time)

About the Role

St. Matthew’s House is a faith-based 501(c)(3) charitable organization that exists to transform lives in a spiritual environment that is both compassionate and disciplined. The Warehouse Associate plays a key role in receiving, sorting, and processing incoming donations while maintaining cleanliness and organization in warehouse spaces. This position operates in a safety-oriented, faith-based team environment that emphasizes organization, teamwork, compassion, efficiency, and excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a high level of professionalism, including safety, courtesy, and positive communication; ensure other staff members do the same.
• Receive incoming merchandise and food donations, sort and process them for appropriate storage or distribution.
• Foster long-lasting relationships and educate donors regarding programs and services.
• Maintain cleanliness and appearance of warehouse(s), sorting area(s), storage container(s), restrooms, and surrounding areas, including light grounds keeping.
• Maintain cleanliness of the commercial waste receptacle area, including breaking down large unsalable items and placing them neatly into appropriate receptacles.
• Move processed and unprocessed donations and other items between warehouses and storage areas.
• Operate heavy equipment (training and certification provided as needed).
• Assist warehouse staff with loading and unloading donated items, ensuring they remain undamaged and are placed in the correct location.
• Work closely with the Warehouse Assistant Manager and assist with daily duties.
• Handle confidential information with discretion.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred (not required).
• No prior experience necessary; training will be provided.
• Ability to work safely and cooperatively in a variety of situations with different team members.
• Must be trustworthy, work well in a team environment, and maintain a neat, professional appearance.
• Flexibility in work hours, including some overtime and holiday availability.

Physical Demands

• Requires standing, walking, reaching, bending, and stooping for long periods.
• Must frequently lift and/or move items up to 75 pounds with assistance.
• Flow of work requires normal mental and visual capabilities.

Working Areas

Warehouse(s) and surrounding exterior and interior areas, including donation sorting areas, storage areas, restrooms, and grounds.
