Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Select products accurately and properly verify
- Perform required equipment inspection and report any deficiencies to supervisor
- Follow proper safety procedures
- Receive load assignment from dock supervisor
- Follow all work instructions and procedures
- Remove product from trailer and break down loads to customer specifications per purchase order
- Break down loads efficiently, accurately, in a timely manner, with little to no error on loads: loads must be wrapped and lined up by P.O. line number when required
- Record loss, damages, shortages and overages
- Report any equipment damages and/or integrity of pallets
- Train new team members on unloading process
- Maintain a clean working area
- Make recommendations for more effective operations
Competencies
- Identify products by size, type, color or product code
- Speak, read, write and understand the English language
- Basic math skills
- Reasoning skills with the ability to understand and execute instructions
- Able to work safely in a warehouse environment
- Able to work in a team environment
- Maintain certification, if using powered industrial equipment
- Proficiency in inventory software, databases and systems or the ability to learn
Physical Requirements
- Regularly use hands to fingers, handle or feel
- Reach with hands and arms
- Talk and hear
- Frequently stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Occasionally sit, climb and balance
- Constantly lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 80 pounds
- Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Education & Experience
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- Years of experience, REQUIRED
- Previous working experience as a warehouse worker, preferred
- Familiarity with modern warehousing practices and methods or the ability to learn processes and procedures
- Maintain certification, if using powered industrial equipment
Work Environment
- Works in a warehouse setting with various temperatures
- Variety of temperatures including freezer, refrigerator, climate control to no climate control warehouses as well as some outdoor exposure
- Exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, two-way forklift flow and loud noise
