Warehouse Associate/Driver

About the role

The Warehouse Associate/Driver is responsible for efficiently and accurately filling customer orders, receiving, stocking, staging, and shipping material while meeting company standards for safety, security, accuracy, and productivity. This role also handles warehouse transactions, maintains the branch warehouse environment and equipment, and operates a delivery vehicle for up to 50% of the time delivering products to customers, company locations, and suppliers in a delivery van or box truck (No CDL required).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a culture and environment focused daily on employee safety and a safe work environment
• Follow established Standard Operating Procedures and Environmental Health and Safety Rules; immediately address safety concerns
• Receive material from vendors, customers, or other warehouses; verify quantity and description by checking merchandise against the packing list
• Stock incoming orders on shelves in an orderly manner and report freight damage claims
• Prepare branch orders from the warehouse, ensuring the correct number and type of product is shipped
• Process shipment paperwork, including verifying merchandise, applying postage and labels, following customer shipping instructions, and insuring shipments when necessary
• Operate machinery including forklift, reach truck, and wire cutting machine
• Load common carrier and company vehicles
• Inspect and perform minor maintenance on equipment
• Perform inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies
• Operate delivery vehicles to make deliveries to and from customers, company branch/warehouse locations, and suppliers
• Inspect company vehicle for visual and operating defects; complete a daily inspection report
• Keep company vehicle clean, serviced, and maintained; alert supervisor of repair or service needs
• Follow Department of Transportation (DOT), local, and state driving laws and regulations
• Load or unload vehicle, ensuring all material for each order is correct (quantity and type) and free of damage before departure
• Assist in preparing orders for delivery as needed
• Ensure all appropriate documentation is completed at delivery, including customer-signed delivery receipts, packing lists, and branch/warehouse manifests
• Pick up material returns from customers; inspect condition, verify quantities, and catalog numbers
• Pick up material from company suppliers
• Participate in training entry-level Truck Drivers; provide mentorship and coaching
• Perform other branch duties as required, including counter sales and customer support
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• No experience required; prior warehouse experience a plus
• Certification to operate forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment preferred
• Valid driver’s license
• At least 21 years of age
• Must pass a pre-employment and annual Motor Vehicle Record review
• Must obtain verification of a non-expired medical certificate as required by law within 30 days of hire
• No suspended driver’s license for a traffic accident/violation within the past 3 years
• No at-fault accidents in the past 3 years
• High School diploma or GED preferred

Pay

$17.33 to $23.82 per hour, depending upon qualifications, experience, and other considerations permitted by law.
