Warehouse Associate
Basic Functions and Scope of Job
The Warehouse Associate is responsible for safely operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment to move, load, unload, and stack materials within the warehouse or production facility. This role supports efficient operations while maintaining safety, accuracy, and cleanliness standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, reach truck, pallet jack, etc.) safely and efficiently
- Prepare and stage loading pallets and equipment
- Load, unload, move, stack, and organize materials and products
- Transport goods to designated storage areas, production lines, or shipping docks
- Inspect forklift equipment daily and report mechanical issues or safety concerns
- Accurately follow inventory control procedures, including scanning and paperwork
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities as needed
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
- Follow all safety guidelines, OSHA regulations, and company policies
- Communicate with supervisors and team members regarding workflow and issues
- Support general warehouse duties during downtime
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, push, and pull materials (often up to 50 lbs)
- Comfortable standing, bending, reaching, and climbing in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work in varying temperatures (depending on facility)
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with inventory systems or warehouse management software (WMS)
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or logistics environments
- Knowledge of pallet racking systems and load limits
