About the role
Supervise all Warehouse staff and manage the overall daily operations of a designated shift. Support and administer operational goals, monitor performance and profit objectives, and create efficient schedules while controlling labor costs and meeting staffing needs. Assist in budget processes, ensure compliance with departmental budget initiatives, and report concerns to management.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the transfer and transport of materials to designated locations within and between departments (e.g., office furniture, records, recycling) during your shift.
- Protect and preserve company assets while on duty.
- Inspect incoming materials for correctness and defects; arrange returns for defective items.
- Order approved supplies and equipment for your shift.
- Ensure all necessary tools and equipment are available and in working order.
- Enforce OSHA standards during your shift.
- Promote and demonstrate superior customer service, ensuring team members adhere to company standards and address issues as they arise.
- Drive the achievement of department customer service goals.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements within your area of responsibility and report potential issues to management.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in all departmental and company matters.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree (A.A.) in a related field; minimum of two years of receiving/distribution or equivalent experience, or a combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience in receiving/distribution required.
- Knowledge of forklift, lift truck, and receiving equipment.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to physically perform the duties of all Warehouse/Receiving team members in emergencies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word).
- Ability to perform arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, and to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to operate both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact with guests, staff, and colleagues, resolving conflicts diplomatically and tactfully.
