Warehouse Assistant II (Forklift)
About the role
This position is responsible for processing different commodities within the Seaboard Solutions warehouse operations both manually and utilizing a forklift and/or other equipment.
Responsibilities
The primary duties of this role include maintaining constant communication with the team, operating 5K forklift equipment, manually picking and pulling items from racks, receiving, scanning, and verifying cargo quantities, and loading and unloading containers and delivery trucks.
- Maintain constant communication with the team to ensure that the correct load is moved at the right time and to the correct location.
- Operate 5K forklift equipment to relocate material and load and/or unload pallets.
- Manually pick and pull items from racks based on pick tickets or loading guides to complete orders.
- Receive, scan, and verify cargo quantities based on company procedures and customer requirements.
- Load and unload containers, delivery trucks manually and/or with lift/dolly and verifies incoming and outgoing cargo by weighing, counting and documenting.
- Inform supervisor immediately of any discrepancies, damages and/or spoiled cargo.
- Conveys materials and items from receiving areas to storage or to other designated areas.
- Operate yard truck to pull, transport, load, or empty and loaded containers using standard equipment.
- Ensure that pallets are stretch wrapped properly before loading or storing.
- Compare pallet ID label number and Warehouse receipt to make sure that there are no discrepancies before storing or loading pallet to/from warehouse and conveyance equipment.
- Load container and trailers in a manner to maintain the integrity of the cargo free of damage while at the same time maximizing the space of the equipment.
- Perform all functions in accordance with operation and safety guidelines.
- Perform routine inspection on assigned forklift before operating or making sure it is safe to operate and manually complete the forklift maintenance checklist refer defects or repairs to mechanic personnel.
- Perform pre-shift mechanical inspection of assigned heavy equipment and immediately report any deficiencies to Mechanic Shop Supervisor.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, free of debris or safety hazards and awareness of surroundings.
Secondary duties include seeking out sufficient warehouse space, removing empty skids or pallets, assisting with inventory cycle count, and assisting Jacintoport with forklift duties.
Requirements
- Minimum one (1) year of recent hands-on warehouse experience, such as material handling, shipping/receiving, forklift operation, cargo storage, staging or container loading.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience operating a 5K forklift to safely and efficiently transport and relocate loaded pallets from container and trailers storing them in the designated warehouse areas.
- Must be able to successfully complete on the job training to drive other heavy equipment such as mule/yard jocker or tractor trailer within 120 days of employment.
- Must be able to handle safely and efficiently heavy containerized, palletized, or loose cargoes in a high volume, fast paced environment.
- Must possess previous experience performing a variety of physical & labor-intensive tasks.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak basic English.
- Must be able to accurately process alpha/numeric information.
- Must have the ability to function effectively in a fast paced, team-oriented work environment.
- Must have the ability to work independently with limited supervision and strong initiative.
- Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees.
- Must have the ability to think logically, follow procedures, instructions and make sound decisions.
- Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card within sixty (60) days of employment.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule or extended hours based on company needs.

Physical Requirements
The employee is continuously required to sit, twist, forward reach, and exercise eye-hand coordination and eye-hand-foot coordination. The employee is frequently required to talk and hear, stand, walk, climb, forward bend and exercise pinch and finger dexterity. The employee is occasionally required to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50lbs.

Pay
Starting rate: $20 per hour
