Description of Work

Conveys materials to and from designated areas.
Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, pallets, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
Counts items for distribution to ensure conformance to company standards.
Records amounts of materials as audited.
Uses computer to enter records.
Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials, or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.
Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power jack.
Operates industrial pallet jack or power fork lift to assist in loading or moving materials and products.

Qualifications

  • Any combination of education, training and experience providing the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Knowledge: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Abilities: Must be able to work without immediate supervision.
  • Experience, Education and Training: Previous warehouse experience preferred.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, with a range of sounds, including driving equipment at 25 decibels average for the better ear.
  • The employee may also be required to work 12+ hours a day for 4-5 consecutive days, with possible overtime and/or rotating shifts.
  • The communication requirements of this job include recognition of auditory sounds and signals; verbal communication and written symbols; verbal/visual analysis of information using some judgment; supervised individual work and some coordination of group work to ensure task completion.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 110 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
  • Aerobic requirements are very heavy; cardiac IA, with RF age 40+, FVC/FEV1 80% and ATS Grade 0.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision of 20/40 better eye with a field of 125°, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee may also be required to work nontraditional hours as needed (before and after normal office hours and weekends).

Licensing/Experience

  • Forklift/pallet jack certification helpful.
