About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Warehouse and Shipping Manager with specialized expertise in warehouse inventory management, handling, storage, and shipping of energetic materials. This role requires deep knowledge of inventory systems, regulatory compliance, safety protocols, and logistics coordination for sensitive defense materials. The successful candidate will ensure safe, compliant, and efficient movement of critical defense articles while maintaining the highest standards of security and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Manages material handlers to ensure operational success.
  • Coordinates the receipt of incoming shipments of inert materials and energetic materials into inventory system.
  • Labels approved material and moves material to storage locations.
  • Coordinates material issues to work orders and moves material to production operations daily.
  • Moves finished product from production operations to storage locations daily.
  • Packages articles for shipment in accordance with all contract, state, and federal regulations.
  • Coordinates with Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) as required for Shipping Information Requests (SIR).
  • Completes shipping documentation in accordance with contract, state, and federal regulations.
  • Ships finished product to customer delivery locations in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Manages test article movement to test range as required.
  • Manages express package shipments through FedEx, UPS, and USPS as required.
  • Manages inventory cycle counts and maintains 100% inventory accuracy on energetic materials.
  • Manages and maintains company assets including forklifts, trucks, ramps, warehouses, and magazines.
  • Interacts with Defense Contract Management Agency, Department of Transportation, and Bureau of Alcohol & Tobacco as required.
  • Manages customer furnished and/or government furnished materials.
  • Ensures full compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT), International Air Transport Association (IATA), and International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) regulations.
  • Maintains expertise in explosive safety regulations, including Department of Defense standards.
  • Coordinates with regulatory bodies and obtains necessary permits and certifications.
  • Conducts risk assessments and implements mitigation strategies.
  • Maintains detailed documentation and chain of custody records for ATF licenses as required.

Requirements

Education & Certification

  • Dangerous Goods 49CFR IATA (present or prior).
  • High School Education or equivalent.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of logistics experience with energetics, explosives, or weapon systems.
  • Minimum 5 years of warehouse management experience.
  • Experience with government contracting and defense logistics protocols.
  • Experience with explosive safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Cost Point experience preferred.
  • Defense production contract-related warehouse management preferred.

Skills

  • Expert knowledge of hazardous materials regulations (49 CFR, IATA DGR, IMDG Code).
  • Proficiency in DLA SIR system.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office suite proficiency.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds; may require minimal walking, standing for extended amounts of time, climbing, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat.

Security Clearance

May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S. Citizenship. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
