About the role
The Archaeologist/Laboratory Director will lead the archaeological and laboratory aspects of the site management program at Wapasha Valley State Park. This position is responsible for overseeing all archaeological activities, including excavation, artifact analysis, and preservation techniques.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all archaeological activities, including excavation, artifact analysis, and preservation techniques.
- Manage the laboratory operations to ensure accurate and thorough analysis of artifacts.
- Collaborate with other park staff to develop and implement site management plans.
- Conduct research and provide reports on archaeological findings.
- Train and supervise archaeological field crews.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding archaeological resources.
Requirements
- A Master's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in archaeological fieldwork and laboratory analysis.
- Experience managing archaeological projects and supervising teams.
- Knowledge of archaeological methods and techniques, including excavation, artifact analysis, and preservation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
