About the role
Quality Counts (QC) is seeking a temporary walking technician for a special public right-of-way (PROW) project. You’ll gather data to help transportation engineers and planners make informed decisions about sidewalk design, operation, and maintenance—all while working outdoors instead of in an office.
Responsibilities
- Gather data for a local municipality’s evaluation and planning of a public right-of-way infrastructure project.
- Operate a multi-sensor profiling tool (pushcart with lasers, high-resolution cameras, and GPS) to measure local sidewalks and pedestrian curbs. See the equipment here.
Requirements
- No prior experience needed.
- Enjoys walking long distances.
- Can commit to at least 25 hours per week on a consistent basis (unlikely to work fewer than 20 hours per week for the project duration).
- Able to quickly learn and operate PathVu equipment and software.
- Will follow all project instructions and deadlines.
- Thrives in an outdoor environment.
- Self-motivated and can work independently.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Located near San Bernardino and able to commute to/from the city center.
