Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive orthopedic evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for patients presenting to Walk-In Orthopedic Care.
- Perform focused musculoskeletal assessments and develop appropriate treatment plans for acute orthopedic injuries and conditions.
- Order, interpret, and review diagnostic imaging, including X-rays, as clinically indicated.
- Apply orthopedic splints, braces, casts, and other immobilization devices as needed.
- Perform minor orthopedic procedures within scope of practice, including joint injections, aspirations, and wound care.
- Educate patients on diagnoses, treatment plans, injury prevention, and follow-up care recommendations.
- Collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons, advanced practice providers, radiology staff, and ancillary clinical teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in the electronic medical record.
- Facilitate appropriate referrals and follow-up appointments with orthopedic specialists when necessary.
- Maintain a patient-centered approach while delivering timely care in a fast-paced walk-in clinic environment.
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
- Active PA Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), Connecticut State Physician Assistant License, ACLS/BLS Certified, when indicated for position profile DEA License.
- Pediatric position profile: PALS, when indicated for neonatal care NRP Certification.
- Licensure: Active PA Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), Connecticut State Physician Assistant License, ACLS/BLS Certified, when indicated for position profile DEA License.
- Additional licensure, certifications and/or continuing education credits may be required during employment based on position and area of specialty.
