About the role

Duties include setting tables, arranging place settings and table decorations, receiving guests, making suggestions and answering questions about food, wines and other items available, taking orders, and maintaining sales records. Additionally, collecting cash or payment by credit card and having knowledge of sanitary food handling and serving techniques is required. Math ability to compute checks and make change is also necessary.

Requirements

• Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks
• May be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities
• Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours annual refresher training
• Must meet state/local age requirements at the time of appointment if serving alcoholic beverages

Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess basic math skills necessary to compute patron bills and make change, be able to communicate effectively in English, and have work experience performing the duties identified. Where duties involve selling alcoholic beverages, the applicant must meet state/local age requirements for the serving of alcoholic beverages at the time of appointment.

Candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": previous work experience performing the duties identified, as described within the duties of previous work experience listed on the applicant's resume and/or supporting documents.

Pay

This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit.
