About the role
The Inventory Control Lead oversees and coordinates inventory activities in stockrooms, warehouses, and yards. Key responsibilities include maintaining storage layouts, reviewing records for accuracy, scheduling inventories, preparing reports, resolving discrepancies, and assigning tasks.
Responsibilities
- Maintains layout of stockroom, warehouse, and storage areas
- Studies records and recommends actions for non-usable, slow-moving, and excess stock
- Reviews records for accuracy and adequacy of stock levels
- Schedules work for special and periodic inventories
- Prepares composite reports from individual reports of Inventory Specialists
- Traces history of items to resolve discrepancies and recommend actions
- Issue written and oral instructions and expedite workflow
- Assigns duties and examines work for conformance to policies and procedures
- Performs other tasks as assigned by manager
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years related experience and/or training in Inventory Control
- Minimum 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training in warehouse environment
- Experience operating a forklift and cherry picker/high lift
- Experience using WMS software (Synapse preferred)
- Knowledge of Inventory Control practices, KPI reporting, Coordinating Cycle Count programs, Product rotation
- PC literate with experience in Microsoft Office Suite
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Physical ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
- Ability to operate a computer and utilize Microsoft Office Suite
Additional Responsibilities
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write reports and correspondence
- Ability to physically count articles or products on shelves, racks, and pallets
- Utilize computer terminal to account for inventory issues, returns, and documentation
Physical Demands
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Use repetitive hand motions
- Work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required
- Work under stressful situations, have good cognitive skills, maintain work accuracy, and the ability to concentrate on multiple tasks at once
- Read and discern visual images on a variety of media with 20/20 corrected vision
- Speak and communicate clearly over telephones
- Be in sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician with no evidence of the use of controlled substances
Travel Requirement
Travel to assist other facilities and requires reliable transportation.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and noise levels in the work environment ranging from quiet to moderately loud.
