About the role
We are seeking a VRM Product Specialist to join our global Service Engineering organization. This role involves technical responsibility for aftermarket, retrofit, and product improvement solutions for Vertical Roller Mills and other grinding equipment used in the cement industry. The Service Engineering team supports sales teams with solution design and proposal development, responds to troubleshooting and workshop needs, and delivers high-value retrofits, upgrades, and installation support.
Responsibilities
- Technical delivery:
- Lead technical proposal preparation and execution of engineered parts for aftermarket and retrofit projects — delivering on time, on budget, and to the required quality.
- Create, review, and approve 3D and 2D drawings in SolidWorks and AutoCAD; perform and review mechanical calculations.
- Apply deep product knowledge across the full lifecycle — design, fabrication, installation, and operation — to support both internal teams and customers.
- Build and review configuration programs in Tacton as CPQ and design automation capabilities expand.
- Commercial & cross-functional support:
- Act as the key technical anchor for sales teams — supporting proposals, customer discussions, troubleshooting workshops, and site visits (up to 30 days per year).
- Work closely with Customer Service, Sales, Business Development, Procurement, Quality, and regional teams to align on deliverables and timelines.
- Help solve manufacturing and operational problems as they arise.
- Standardization & continuous improvement:
- Drive value engineering and product improvement initiatives across the VRM product line.
- Contribute to the development and rollout of standard offerings, engineering templates, and cover letters that reduce proposal time and improve consistency.
- Support ongoing CPQ and design automation deployments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in heavy engineering.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD; familiarity with Tacton or similar CPQ tools is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex design challenges.
- Clear, confident communicator who works well across global, cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and standards.
- Experience in the cement industry or a comparable heavy industrial environment.
- Practical background from workshop or site work — you understand how equipment is built and operated, not just designed.
- Experience with machine design and engineering documentation in SolidWorks.

- Passionate about solving complex engineering challenges.
- Willingness to travel up to 30 days per year.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
