About the role

As a voluntary storyteller, you will take on the role of 'Fleur'—a host/hostess of nature. You will welcome groups of pupils and set the mood for wonder and discovery. Once in 'Het Bewaarde Land', the children explore in small groups with their guides, the 'Wachters van Het Bewaarde Land'. Fleur occasionally checks in to see what they are experiencing. Children love to share their adventures with you, and in return, you tell special stories, share your knowledge about plants, and serve 'Fleur's soup' from your 'house' at the edge of the forest. The project takes place at multiple locations in Brabant.

What you will do

• Act as a host/hostess of nature and storyteller for groups of children aged 8 to 10
• Welcome groups, set a tone of wonder and discovery
• Visit children during their explorations and listen to their adventures
• Tell stories and share plant knowledge at your 'house' by the forest edge
• Be present in the forest for about 8 hours during project days

Requirements

• You enjoy being in nature and are able to spend 8 hours in the forest
• You enjoy working with pupils between 8 and 10 years old
• You love telling stories and enjoy taking on the role of host/hostess
• You participate in the training for new volunteers (one training day and shadowing an experienced volunteer during one project)
