Vrijwillige jeugdbegeleider in Drunense Duinen/Udenhout

About the role

IVN Noord-Brabant is looking for a volunteer youth guide for nature experience project Het Bewaarde Land in the Drunense Duinen/Udenhout. You will guide a small group of students from grades 4 through 6 for three days, taking them on a journey through the forest using various play and learning methods. Because you guide the same group each time, you get to know them well, can respond to their needs, and see real change in their attitude towards nature. In a short time, you make a huge impact. Het Bewaarde Land takes place on multiple locations in Brabant.

What you will do

• Take a small group of students on a trip through the forest
• Explore the forest together using various play and learning forms
• Guide the same group for three days

What we ask of you

• You enjoy being in nature and are able to wander in the forest for 8 hours
• You enjoy working with students between the ages of 8 and 10
• You participate in the training for new volunteers (one training day and shadowing one project with experienced volunteers)

Is 8 hours too long for you? You can also work as a school guide for programs of about 2 hours in the Drunense Duinen.

• Guidance is voluntary, so you are not paid. However, there is a travel allowance and the training is free
• You make a positive impact on the new generation. Children develop more respect for their (natural) environment and each other, and gain a life experience. In grade 8 and often years later, students still remember their adventures in Het Bewaarde Land

Training

You will receive training from IVN before you start working independently: one training day and one project shadowing with experienced volunteers.

Experience

Not required, but helpful: experience guiding children.
