VPK Teacher - Prodigy

About the Role

As a VPK Teacher, you will help foster a nurturing environment rich in developmentally appropriate activities that encourage children's curiosity and learning. We care for the whole child as an individual, including their social-emotional, cognitive, and developmental needs.

You will impact education by communicating with co-teachers and staff daily, mentoring and training new staff, collaborating on activity planning, and leading by example in the classroom and school. Ensuring children's safety and well-being, participating in professional development, and maintaining a positive attitude are key aspects of this role. You will also communicate daily with parents about their child's progress and development, uphold accreditation and state childcare standards, and align with the company's vision and mission.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with co-teacher and other staff members daily.
  • Mentor and train new staff as needed.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to plan activities.
  • Lead by example in the classroom and school.
  • Ensure children's safety and well-being at all times.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development.
  • Be a team player and an active, engaged member of the teaching staff.
  • Communicate with parents daily regarding the child's progress and development.
  • Maintain a positive can-do attitude.
  • Maintain accreditation and state childcare standards.
  • Uphold company vision and mission at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • College-level coursework, Associate's, or Bachelor's degree (preferred).
  • CDA, Staff Credential, or BS (required).
  • VPK Credential (required).
  • 1-year experience working as a lead teacher in a licensed childcare facility.
  • Meets state childcare education requirements.
  • Knowledge of infant/toddler developmentally appropriate practice (DAP).
  • Familiarity with NAEYC standards.
  • Familiarity with continuity of care.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Able to maintain professional composure in stressful situations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with the accreditation process (preferred).

Work Environment

The work environment includes usual office working conditions. The role may involve somewhat stressful situations due to frequent student activity.

Physical Demands

The physical demands include light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

This job is non-exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
