About the role
This position is responsible for sourcing opportunities, negotiating and issuing term sheets, gathering appropriate information; performing analysis, due diligence, and underwriting of proposed commercial real estate loan requests. It involves reviewing initial borrower submissions, preparing credit presentations, guiding credit requests through review, assisting with the loan administration process, and staying updated on market trends.
Responsibilities
- Establishing new relationships and fostering existing relationships.
- Analyzing commercial lending opportunities, including working capital lines of credit and term loans to business, plus owner-occupied real estate loans.
- Combining analysis with a detailed analysis of a borrower(s) and guarantor(s) balance sheets and cash flow to determine the bank's interest in providing a credit facility for the designated purpose.
- Gathering any additional information required to make an initial decision on the credit requested, or to prepare a credit display once the decision to proceed is made.
- Preparing investment analysis and credit package for review by department manager and credit administrators.
- On an ongoing basis, continuing the analysis detailed above to maintain a working knowledge of the ability and desire of the borrower(s) and guarantor(s) to maintain the loan and the collateral in a manner which will increase or maintain the value of the collateral, and achieve payment in full of the loan provided.
- Managing financial ticklers.
- Working with loan administrators and legal counsel to provide information as necessary to process and close credit facilities.
- Staying abreast of market trends and developing/maintaining a network of referral sources.
- Involvement in interviewing and hiring decisions.
- Preparing and delivering employee performance evaluations, goal planning, and counseling.
- Managing, supporting, coaching, and training staff.
- Following all established policies and procedures.
- Performing other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- A minimum of 6-8 years of experience in commercial lending, including valuation and asset management, and financial analysis.
- A Bachelor's Degree in finance or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of, adherence to, monitoring, and responsibility for compliance with state and federal regulations and laws as they pertain to this position, including but not limited to Regulation Z (Truth in Lending Act), Regulation B (Equal Credit Opportunity Act), Fair Housing Act (FHA), Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) in conjunction with the USA PATRIOT Act, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Customer Information Program (CIP), Right to Financial Privacy Act (RFPA, state and federal), and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA).
- A general knowledge of appropriate loan documentation, collateral analysis, and financial statements.
- P.C. proficiency with emphasis on spreadsheets (Word, Excel, Argus).
- Familiarity with Moody’s analysis systems.
- Excellent composing and writing skills.
- Familiarity with nCino system.
- Above-average interpersonal skills; ability to communicate verbally with a wide range of people.
- A positive attitude and willingness to work.
- Responsiveness, judgment, maturity, integrity, and time management skills.
- Review and be knowledgeable of departmental and human resource’s policies & procedures.
