VP, Relationship Manager
Avidbank is a $2.6 billion commercial bank based in Silicon Valley serving the San Francisco Bay area and beyond. We specialize in commercial & industrial lending, technology and asset-based lending, specialty finance, real estate construction, and commercial real estate lending. Founded in 2003, we have one branch in San Jose along with loan production offices in Redwood City and San Francisco.
About the Role
The Relationship Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of clients and developing strong business relationships that lead to loans, deposits, and other banking products. This role involves sales, service, and retention of existing relationships while growing new ones through professional networks.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of all aspects of the borrower relationship within the assigned portfolio.
- Retain quality clients through expertise in financing options and service offerings, coordinating with all Avidbank support groups to deliver an outstanding client experience.
- Proactively track performance of client operations, interfacing with clients and investment partners to monitor borrower performance.
- Ensure all credits in the assigned portfolio are accurately graded according to the Bank’s risk rating procedures.
- Take ownership of independent collateral verification and protection, and borrower due diligence, on an ongoing basis.
- Perform ongoing financial analysis to monitor trends and new developments that may impact loan performance, identifying opportunities to enhance value for Avidbank and the client.
- Lead the underwriting, approval, negotiating, and closing processes for additional funding requests or modifications to existing loans.
- Coordinate with existing clients and the Bank to win the business of any new funds being raised by the client.
- Lead the documentation of the Loan and Security Agreement (LSA), negotiation of LSA language and terms, and collection of all required documents from the prospect.
- Prepare monthly reports and summaries to keep management informed on portfolio performance.
- Communicate with clients and the Credit team to anticipate potential loan issues or questions and formulate creative resolutions.
- Maintain open dialogue with clients, outside legal counsel, and banks to monitor market movements and trends.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to entry-level team members.
- Travel for client visits and other meetings up to 15% of the time (approximately 1–5 days per month).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Venture Banking, venture capital, private equity, or leveraged finance with a technology industry focus.
- Previous experience in deal structuring, underwriting, managing a deal through a committee approval process, and portfolio management.
- Strong underwriting and portfolio management skills.
- Results-driven with financial modeling experience and comfort in interpreting financial data.
- Thrives in a dynamic and remote work environment.
- Skilled communicator (written and verbal) with the ability to lead and motivate junior staff.
- Proactive attitude, resourcefulness, and ability to maintain absolute confidentiality.
Qualifications
This level of knowledge is normally acquired through a Bachelor's degree along with at least 5 years of related experience. Qualified candidates with equivalent experience are encouraged to apply.

Pay
The wage range for this role is $100,000 - $160,000 per year. The range takes into account factors such as skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and business needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range.
Schedule
Full-time, onsite in San Jose or San Francisco, California.
