Job Summary
The Vice President (VP), Project Manager at Banc of California is responsible for leading the execution of complex, cross-functional, and enterprise-wide strategic initiatives. This role involves overseeing project teams, influencing organizational change, and ensuring alignment with enterprise goals, regulatory requirements, and stakeholder expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end execution of complex, high-impact, and enterprise-wide projects and programs, ensuring delivery meets strategic objectives, scope, schedule, budget, and quality targets.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of key project and program deliverables—including charters, schedules, RAID logs, budgets, and executive status reports—ensuring alignment with EPMO standards and controls.
- Drive adherence to EPMO methodologies, change control processes, and approval gates; maintain accurate, auditable records in the Project Portfolio Management Information System (PMIS); contribute to enterprise portfolio-level reporting and prioritization.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and executive-level stakeholder engagement, remove blockers, and drive decision-making across business, technology, risk, and vendor teams; represent the EPMO in executive forums and governance committees.
- Deliver clear, concise, and actionable communications to senior leadership; prepare and present executive-level reporting and recommendations.
- Proactively identify, assess, and manage risks, issues, actions, and dependencies; implement mitigation and contingency plans; escalate appropriately to ensure project and program success.
- Champion and implement process improvements that enhance delivery efficiency, control, and stakeholder satisfaction; drive innovation in project and portfolio management practices.
- Uphold company policies and banking regulations; maintain audit-ready documentation and support evidence requests as needed.
- Mentor and coach project managers and AVPs, fostering a culture of excellence, professional growth, and inclusion.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field (Master’s degree or equivalent advanced education a plus)
- 7+ years of progressive project management experience, including leadership of large-scale, enterprise-wide, and highly complex initiatives in financial services or other regulated environments
- Demonstrated success in delivering transformational business outcomes, influencing organizational strategy, and managing portfolios or programs with significant impact
- Experience serving as a trusted advisor to executive sponsors and senior leadership, with a proven ability to influence at the C-suite level
- Certifications preferred: PMP, PgMP, PRINCE2, PMI-ACP, or Certified ScrumMaster
- Exceptional organizational, leadership, and time management skills, with the ability to drive results through others and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level reporting, presentations, and stakeholder engagement
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and enterprise project management tools (e.g., Clarizen/AdaptiveWork, Monday.com, MS Project, JIRA)
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop project management professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
- A proactive, strategic, and innovative mindset with strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to ongoing professional development

- Proven track record of leading and managing large-scale projects and programs
- Experience in financial services or other regulated environments
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance
- Experience in implementing and improving project management methodologies
