About the Role

The VP Portfolio Manager leads a team of Relationship Managers, Partner Services Coordinators, and Marketing Compliance Analysts responsible for the day-to-day service, issue management, and marketing compliance review of fintech partner relationships within the Fintech Solutions division. The team supports a portfolio spanning card issuing, payments, and lending programs. As a member of the Partner Services department and the Fintech Solutions division management team, this role helps shape and execute strategic initiatives and work processes. The position involves frequent communication with mid and senior executive-level personnel across The Bancorp, as well as senior executives at partners and third-party service providers.

Responsibilities

  • Team leadership and development: Manage a team of Relationship Managers, Partner Services Coordinators, and Marketing Compliance Analysts. Oversee day-to-day operations, set high performance standards, and manage performance in line with HR policies. Build a flexible, energized work environment, motivate the team, and coach them on partner communication, issue escalation, marketing compliance, and program knowledge across payments, issuing, and lending.
  • Partner program support and escalation: Oversee team support for partner programs, including card issuing, payments, and lending. Act as the escalation point for the Partner Services team and partners to resolve issues efficiently. Guide the team through product launches and program changes, ensuring marketing collateral and servicing impacts are addressed. Coordinate resolution of lending-related issues with enterprise resources.
  • Regulatory oversight and third-party risk management: Communicate partner oversight activities in accordance with regulatory guidance and internal third-party risk management standards. Work with operations, compliance, and third-party risk teams to implement oversight practices. Oversee the review of partner marketing materials for regulatory adherence and resolve escalated collateral decisions. Ensure team adherence to compliance rules and support examination requests.
  • Strategy, reporting, and operational improvement: Develop short and long-term strategies for the Partner Services team, balancing business goals with risk management. Analyze and present key operational metrics, risk, and performance indicators. Deliver recommendations to senior management to increase operational effectiveness and manage risk exposure. Identify productivity improvements and coach the team to close process gaps.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • 8 years of relevant relationship management or business development experience and 8 years of banking or payments operations experience.
  • Working knowledge of card issuing, payments, and lending programs, including servicing, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Strong working knowledge of compliance rules and regulations, including third-party risk management expectations.
  • Familiarity with marketing and advertising compliance requirements for consumer financial products, including UDAAP considerations.

  • Partner issues and escalations are resolved within expected timeframes with clear communication to partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Payments, issuing, and lending programs are supported within program terms and bank policy.
  • Marketing collateral reviews are completed within agreed turnaround times with consistent, well-documented decisions.
  • Product launches and program changes go live with the team prepared and partner-facing materials updated.
  • Oversight activities, reviews, and controls are completed on schedule and documented to withstand internal audit and regulatory examination.
  • Examination and audit requests are fulfilled accurately and on time.
  • Operational metrics and risk indicators are reported consistently and used by senior management for decision-making.
  • Team retention, engagement, and performance ratings reflect strong leadership and development.
