About the role
This is the most senior finance position in the company, and it sits at the intersection of finance, strategy, and company building. You’ll become one of the CEO’s closest business partners, helping shape nearly every major capital, operating, and strategic decision the company makes.
You'll own the financial infrastructure that keeps the business healthy—accounting, cash, controls, and reporting across every entity—while helping lead the acquisitions, capital allocation, and financial strategy behind the next chapter of Grit.
Strategic Finance & Executive Partnership
- Serve as the CEO's primary financial advisor and thought partner on capital allocation, forecasting, acquisitions, and the decisions that shape the company's direction.
- Drive annual planning, long-range forecasting, and company-wide financial strategy.
- Build financial models that sharpen capital allocation and operational decision-making.
- Provide clear, concise insight that helps leadership make faster, better decisions.
- Prepare financial analyses and presentations for the executive team, board, lenders, and investors.
- Help evaluate pricing, compensation and commission plans, organizational investments, and long-term growth initiatives.
Strategic Growth, M&A & Corporate Development
- Partner with the CEO on acquisition strategy and corporate development.
- Lead financial modeling, valuation, diligence, quality-of-earnings review, and transaction analysis for acquisitions.
- Support negotiations with founders, lenders, and strategic partners.
- Lead post-acquisition financial integration and performance tracking, with repeatable processes to measure the return on completed deals.
- Evaluate new markets, new service lines, and strategic growth initiatives.
- Build the financial case for investments that create long-term enterprise value.
Corporate Finance, Banking & Capital
- Own company-wide cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning across entities and the seasonal cycle.
- Lead all banking and lender relationships, and own investor/lender communication.
- Manage lines of credit, SBA and commercial debt facilities, covenant compliance (e.g., fixed charge coverage), and refinancing opportunities.
- Improve working-capital performance across collections, payment practices, and cash conversion.
- Partner with ownership on capital structure and financing strategy, and develop disciplined processes for evaluating capital expenditures and major investments.
- Support KYC/ownership-structure requests, intercompany arrangements, and related corporate-finance matters.
Financial Planning & Operational Performance
- Build forecasting processes across both Mira Home and Grit Marketing.
- Partner with operations to improve margins, unit economics, productivity, operating leverage, and return on invested capital.
- Establish consistent profitability reporting by business unit, market, and channel.
- Develop executive dashboards and KPIs that give real-time visibility into company performance.
- Improve forecasting accuracy for a business with pronounced seasonality and a large, variable sales workforce.
- Identify performance gaps, build practical improvement plans with operating leaders, and maximize ROI across the platform.
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Own all accounting operations across every entity in the platform (parent, operators, and the real-estate holding company): general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, revenue recognition, and month-end/year-end close.
- Ensure timely closes and GAAP-compliant consolidated financial statements.
- Maintain accurate multi-entity consolidations, intercompany eliminations, and financial reporting.
- Strengthen internal controls, financial governance, approval processes, and risk-management practices (including insurance).
- Own tax coordination and audits, and own relationships with external CPAs, auditors, and financial institutions.
- Build scalable accounting systems and controls that support continued growth.
Systems & Team
- Own and optimize the finance tech stack with NetSuite at its center—leading the implementation, administration, and ongoing optimization of NetSuite as our core ERP (bringing prior QuickBooks Online experience to the transition), and driving clean, reliable integrations with our payroll and spend platform (Ripple), our revenue system (Salesforce), and our reporting environment (Domo).
- Automate manual processes and establish standardized, scalable finance workflows and reliable sources of data for decision-making.
- Continue building a best-in-class finance organization; lead and develop a high-performing team.
- Evaluate and implement systems that improve reporting, automation, and decision-making.
- Bring an AI-forward mindset to the finance function—using AI and automation to remove manual effort and free the team to focus on higher-value analysis and decision support.
- Assess the finance organization's structure and capabilities against the company's current size and future needs, and build a culture of accuracy, ownership, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.
