VP of Finance & Accounting

The Eugene Family YMCA is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Vice President of Finance & Accounting. Reporting to the CEO, this role supports the Y’s mission of strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

About the role

The VP of Finance & Accounting (VPFA) plays a pivotal role in ensuring the financial health and strategic direction of the Y. They are responsible for managing and monitoring financial operations, preparing financial reports, and overseeing compliance and risk mitigation processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor financial operations, including preparing financial reports and analyses, and ensuring timely completion of financial reports.
• Establish, oversee, and maintain an internal control system to ensure financial transactions comply with policies and procedures.
• Oversee the drafting and completion of budgets and forecasts, and ensure financial management of grants.
• Oversee the Y’s PCI compliance and prepare RFPs and RFQs in accordance with Y policies.
• Engage with key stakeholders, partners, and volunteers to create, negotiate, and enact strategic agreements.
• Support the CEO and other Y employees, and complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field.
• At least 4.5 years of directly relevant accounting or finance experience managing a complex budget with multiple revenue streams or funding sources and multiple supported operations.
• At least two years of previous supervisory experience.
• Previous experience managing core accounting functions such as GAAP accounting, accruals, cash management, forecasting, cost allocation, expense coding, and budgeting.
• Experience with nonprofit revenue recognition principles and restrictions.
• Executive-level understanding of accounting, budgeting, and the ability to evaluate complex financial information resulting in actionable recommendations to organizational leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous YMCA finance or accounting management experience.
