VP of Facilities, 2 Hour Learning - $200,000/year USD
About the role
You walk through a facility and immediately identify what's wrong — the ceiling tile that hasn't been documented, the HVAC unit that's been making noise for days, the landscaping contractor who completed half the work but submitted a full invoice. You don't wait for complaints. You resolve issues before they're noticed. This instinct defines the position.
Responsibilities
Performing regular on-site inspections across Central Texas locations against documented standards covering cleanliness, HVAC systems, safety protocols, security measures, signage, landscaping, furniture, and presentation readiness — then converting findings into confirmed corrective actions
Responding to facilities issues and emergencies, coordinating vendor responses, and closing work orders only after verifying resolution (urgent issues within 24 hours, standard issues within 1 week)
Overseeing local vendor performance relative to service level agreements, terminating consistently underperforming vendors, renegotiating contract terms, and conducting direct accountability discussions regarding quality and cost
Establishing a weekly operational cadence with Campus Coordinators and Site Specialists to ensure each campus follows standardized procedures rather than ad hoc responses
Overseeing significant campus improvement projects (HVAC system upgrades, interior updates, landscaping enhancements, AV/networking installations) while maintaining schedule and budget parameters with minimal student impact
Documenting organization-wide standards and AI-powered procurement frameworks (utilizing ticketing platforms, IoT/predictive maintenance tools, and centralized purchasing systems) to ensure consistent campus launches and operations
Delivering concise weekly written updates on regional facility quality, vendor performance metrics, escalated issues, and capital expenditure tracking
Requirements
Located in the Austin, TX metropolitan area or within commuting distance, prepared to work primarily from the Austin campus with 20–40% regional travel
Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
5+ years managing multi-site facilities, regional operations, hospitality operations, retail operations, or school operations
Documented success holding vendor-managed services accountable for quality standards, cost control, and SLA compliance across multiple sites
Hands-on experience addressing urgent facilities problems (safety hazards, HVAC failures, security breaches, cleanliness issues) with measurable customer experience outcomes
Verified experience with contemporary operations technology (ticketing platforms, IoT/predictive maintenance systems, AI-supported procurement or planning tools)
Nice-to-have Requirements
Multi-site leadership experience in premium hospitality, luxury retail, private K–12 education, or healthcare systems serving demanding clientele
Experience creating or rebuilding a regional operations framework where the previous model depended on individual heroics instead of systematic standards
History of terminating underperforming vendors and developing a reliable local vendor network
Experience directing capital improvement initiatives (HVAC systems, AV/networking infrastructure, landscaping projects, interior renovations) in active, customer-facing facilities
Background operating in an AI-first environment where automated playbooks, dashboards, and predictive tools handle routine tasks so personnel can focus on strategic decisions
