VP of Engineering, Platform & Operations

About the role

This role will lead operational priorities focused on execution quality, efficiency, safety, and measurable performance outcomes. You will collaborate with field leadership, support functions, and cross-functional stakeholders to improve accountability, service delivery, and operational consistency. The position offers the opportunity to influence operational scale, customer outcomes, and organizational performance within a Business Services environment.

Location: Chicago, IL - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical strategy and execution of the platform organization
• Oversee multi-cloud platform consolidation planning and execution
• Manage logistics and dispatch infrastructure to ensure operational scale
• Drive developer experience and tooling for cross-company engineering teams
• Own CX operations technology and automate care processes via AI
• Oversee shared frontend components and design systems for multiple brands
• Own and optimize merchant operations systems across the company and Grubhub

Qualifications

• 15+ years engineering experience, with 4+ years in a senior director role leading infrastructure or platform engineering organizations
• Proven ownership of high-availability production platforms at scale
• Extensive multi-cloud infrastructure expertise across Azure, GCP, and AWS
• Strong background in container orchestration (Kubernetes/AKS), Kafka, SRE practices, and observability stacks
• Experience with logistics or real-time dispatch platform engineering is a notable advantage
• History of enhancing developer productivity and building internal developer platforms
• Expertise in recruiting senior engineers within a high-output environment

Pay

$345,000 – $404,500 annually
