VP of Communications and Marketing

Solar United Neighbors (SUN) is a national 501(c)3 nonprofit focused on promoting solar energy access. Founded over 15 years ago, SUN has supported tens of thousands of individuals in adopting solar energy solutions. Our mission is to foster a clean, equitable, and resilient energy future accessible to all.

About the role

We are seeking a visionary leader to join our team as the Vice President of Communications and Marketing. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in strategic communications, marketing, and community engagement. They will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies to raise awareness about solar energy and our mission.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a robust public relations strategy to enhance SUN’s brand and reputation
• Oversee all marketing efforts, including digital campaigns, social media, and event promotion
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging across all platforms
• Manage media relations and secure high-profile coverage for SUN
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, industry partners, and community leaders
• Lead the development and execution of annual marketing plans and budgets

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in communications and/or marketing
• Proven track record of successful campaign execution and results
• Experience working with nonprofits and a strong understanding of their unique needs
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines

• Experience with crisis management and media training
• Knowledge of environmental issues and renewable energy
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Pay

Salary range: $180,000 - $220,000 annually
