About the Role
As VP of Commercial, you own the outcome of originating, structuring, and closing multi-year capacity agreements with hyperscalers and AI compute buyers that anchor TAR's buildout. These are 8-10 figure contracts with a small number of counterparties, where a single deal can shape the company's trajectory. There is no formal commercial function at TAR today—you will build it from the ground up.
Responsibilities
- Own origination with TAR's highest-value counterparties, including hyperscalers, AI labs, and neoclouds, mapping decision-makers across infrastructure, energy procurement, and finance to build a pipeline matched to TAR's capacity roadmap.
- Lead each deal end-to-end, from first meeting through term sheet, definitive agreements, and signature, driving against clear milestones.
- Structure multi-year commitments, including take-or-pay, minimum volumes, exclusivity, pricing and escalators, credit support, and delivery milestones and remedies, balancing winning the deal with protecting TAR's margins and bankability.
- Build TAR's pricing and deal-economics framework with finance, tying every proposal to project cost, financing requirements, and risk allocation before it reaches a customer.
- Translate customer requirements such as load, timing, redundancy, and location into commitments development and engineering can deliver, holding the line on what TAR will and will not promise.
- Stand up the commercial operating system, including CRM, deal review and approval, contract templates, and forecasting cadence, ensuring leadership has a clear view of pipeline, probability, and contracted revenue.
- Hire and lead TAR's first commercial team members, such as deal leads, commercial analysts, and contract managers, setting the standard for how TAR sells.
- Serve as the accountable executive owner for each customer relationship from signature through ramp, turning first contracts into expansions and repeat capacity.
Qualifications
- 7+ years originating and closing large 8-10 figure contracts with long sales cycles, including deals personally led to signature.
- Deep negotiation and deal-structuring fluency across multi-year commitments, take-or-pay, exclusivity, pricing, and credit terms, with the judgment to prioritize critical terms.
- A track record of building a commercial function from scratch, including designing processes, building pipelines, and making first hires.
- Executive presence and direct communication with C-level buyers, investors, and lenders.
