VP, Head of WBSO

Job Summary

The WBSO VP is responsible for promoting and facilitating the successful implementation of the Wuxi Business System at Wuxi Biologics companies, helping them meet their Policy Deployment (PD) and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets. The WBSO VP assists in creating WBS Sustainability both broadly across Wuxi Biologics and in a targeted fashion at mentored Business Units (BUs) / Sites. Primary work will be in China with some support in Asia as needed.

Job Responsibilities

• Aid in achieving business unit Policy Deployment and Strategic Plan objectives
• Accelerate results in SQDC by leveraging WBS tools, mentoring, and consulting skills, and change management processes
• Lead the adoption and use of the WBS Fundamentals throughout China in all functions
• Aid site/company leadership in developing a WBS roadmap to meet PD/KPI requirements and WBS Sustainability
• Directly provide formal and informal WBS training and coaching at gemba
• Facilitate other WBS training sessions when appropriate (other trainers and consultants from Wuxi Biologics, Shingijutsu, or other)
• Regularly participate in PD reviews
• Continue to evolve WBS tools
• Ensure productive kaizen events
• Promote and facilitate diagnosis of workflow impediments and other wastes throughout the business, and provide expert counsel on appropriate tools to eliminate them
• Promote and facilitate associate development in various WBS tools, lean production, and kaizen leadership
• As Process Tool Owner for select WBS tools, promote the use and improvement of these tools and build a network of global CPs and ACPs to support Wuxi Biologics and BU needs
• Benchmark and incorporate best practices

Qualifications

• Must be hands-on and detail-oriented but also able to see the big picture
• Must possess the technical skills necessary to be credible in DHR by peers and managers
• Must be able to effectively communicate in both written and verbal forms
• Must be able to think strategically and view the business from a general management standpoint
• Must be very customer focused and have strong interpersonal and communications skills
• Must be a quick study who can rapidly adapt to Wuxi Biologics’s culture and gain the confidence of the Wuxi Biologics organization
• This person will be high energy and able to handle conflict
• Must be an independent worker, capable of operating in a fast-moving, ever changing environment and able to effectively deal with difficult situations
• This Leader must have a strong gemba-orientation (spend time and drive change at the ‘real place’ – where the ‘value happens’)
• Must have 7+ years of Operations or Engineering experience
• Must have a BS or BA Degree in Business or Engineering with a Master’s Degree preferred
• Must be able to accurately assess key business metrics and situations from a “general manager’s” point of view
• Must be able to design, develop, and implement a WBS roadmap for an operating business or site
• Mastery of WBS Fundamentals and a variety of WBS Lean tools
• Superior communications skills
• Very Good to Excellent English Skills (written and spoken)
• Excellent Chinese skills (written and spoken)
• Superior training skills and adult learning theory
• Superior consulting/influencing skills
• Familiarity with various manufacturing process technologies
• Hands-on experience implementing WBS in a line management role
• Exposure to and participation in a wide variety of training environments
• Good writing and administrative skills, including computer skills (word processing, graphics, spreadsheet, etc.)
• Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management
