VP Global Operations

About the role

The role of Operations Lead is critical to Tensec's strategic expansion into multiple markets, particularly the US. This individual will oversee the development and implementation of the treasury backend infrastructure, ensuring the platform is flexible and scalable across various financial rails and jurisdictions. They will also be responsible for building the US market infrastructure, including regulatory compliance and partnership management.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for day-to-day operational, legal, and cross-functional questions from the CMO, CPO, and senior country management teams.
• Advises the product team on operational and legal requirements for the client onboarding experience.
• Coordinates legal review of onboarding flows and ensures the backend operations organization can deliver what the frontend promises.
• Ensures the operations organization provides the support the PMO function requires to execute cross-functional initiatives.
• Builds the proprietary orchestration layer that sits above existing vendor infrastructure, enabling Tensec to operate flexibly across different financial rails and markets.
• Manages and expands the vendor network, including existing infrastructure partners powering Tensec's Asia and EU corridors.
• Evaluates, negotiates, and onboards new partners as Tensec enters additional markets.
• Works with engineering and product to develop and continuously improve the orchestration technology that makes Tensec's treasury function intelligent, automated, and scalable across all corridors.
• Works closely with the treasury and finance teams to ensure the operational and technical foundation serves their needs effectively.
• Advise on the requirements for the risk framework governing treasury operations, ensuring the infrastructure supports risk program ownership rather than replacing it.
• Ensure the treasury infrastructure is legally sound across all operating jurisdictions, in coordination with local counsel.
• Own the operational and legal groundwork for existing licenses and partnerships, and US market entry, targeted for H2 2026.
• Identify and manage the regulatory, banking, and operational dependencies that make a US launch clean and defensible, including all associated marketing reviews.
• As the US ops function formalizes, hire and lead the US operations lead who runs market execution on the ground.
• Monitor and advise on the AI governance requirements that will apply to Tensec's US operations and ensure US market entry accounts for emerging AI transparency and accountability obligations.
• Inform the CCO organization on US and cross-jurisdictional legal requirements that affect how the compliance program must be structured.
• Advises strategically on compliance program design across markets, translating regulatory developments across BSA/AML, FinCEN, OFAC, and sanctions into actionable guidance for the compliance team.
• Build the legal infrastructure, including templates, playbooks, and review processes, that scales and that the GC/CLO will inherit.
• Serve as the internal legal resource for all People & HR matters across all three jurisdictions.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, candidates should have:

• A proven track record of building and scaling operations in high-growth environments.
• Experience in treasury management, trade finance, and financial services operations.
• A deep understanding of regulatory requirements, including AML/CFT obligations, KYB/KYC standards, sanctions screening, and the regulatory expectations of institutions like BCB, BACEN, CNBV.
• Strong legal and compliance fundamentals, with a background in law or compliance, or extensive experience working closely with these frameworks.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Proven ability to manage and grow a team, including managing the US operations lead.
• Experience in managing vendor networks and negotiating partnerships.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and ambiguity at scale.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Finance, Law, Compliance, or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in treasury management, trade finance, and financial services operations.
• Experience in managing vendor networks and negotiating partnerships.
• Experience in managing regulatory compliance and legal affairs.
• Experience in building and scaling operations in high-growth environments.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work as needed for project deadlines.
