VP, FTR

About the role

The VP of FTR will lead the development and growth of our Financial Transmission Rights (FTR) platform. Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and building the FTR business, including recruiting, mentoring, and developing a team of technical and commercial professionals.
• Serving as a player-coach, actively participating in both strategic decision-making and hands-on execution.
• Developing and implementing strategies to target key FTR markets, identifying opportunities for growth and expansion.
• Overseeing the development of the FTR platform, collaborating with technology, analytics, and trading teams to ensure robust, scalable solutions.
• Managing risk across the FTR business, establishing frameworks and controls to monitor and mitigate exposure.
• Utilizing capital effectively to build and scale the FTR desk, ensuring optimal allocation and return on investment.
• Representing LS Power in industry forums, regulatory discussions, and with key stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate deep expertise in FTR markets (PJM, ERCOT, NYISO, MISO), trading, and risk management.
• Be both technically and commercially savvy, able to bridge the gap between analytics and business strategy.
• Have a proven track record of building and leading successful teams in energy trading or related fields.
• Thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and be motivated by solving complex energy challenges.
• Foster a culture of innovation, integrity, teamwork, and ownership within the FTR team.
• Ideal qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree and 10+ years of experience in energy trading, with significant exposure to FTR markets.
• Proven leadership experience, including building and managing teams.
• Strong technical skills in analytics, modeling, and platform development.
• Deep understanding of risk management principles and practices.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
