VP, Engineered Risk
The U.S. Insurance Engineered Risk practice at Sompo provides first-party property coverage for contractor-controlled projects. This role requires a Vice President with 12+ years of Engineered Risk/Construction Property underwriting experience.
About the role
Responsible for developing the Engineered Risk business within their assigned territory. Underwrite complex construction projects, manage producer and client relationships, and provide technical expertise to Sompo's global risk solution and inland marine product lines.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a regional marketing plan to retain existing business and produce new business.
- Create and foster a reputation as an industry expert with peers and producers.
- Underwrite complex construction projects, determining capacity allocation, attachment points, terms, and pricing.
- Manage and develop producer and client relationships.
- Provide technical expertise to Sompo's Global Risk Solution and Inland Marine product lines.
- Gather and evaluate industry trends and competitive intelligence.
- Participate in the development of policy forms, premium rating plans, and underwriting guidelines.
- Maintain files in an orderly manner consistent with company guidelines.
- Contribute to the development of others within a team.
- Attend industry functions.
- Travel nationally 25% of the time.
Requirements
Established relationships with regional retail & wholesale brokers, established relationships with national facultative reinsurers, experience in successfully underwriting, quoting, and binding profitable business, Bachelor’s Degree with an Engineering discipline preferred, Strong attention to detail, Excellent oral and written communication skills, Strong analytical and organizational skills, Strong computer skills, Microsoft office applications.
Qualifications
Salary Range: $190,000.00 – $240,000.00
