About the Role
As VP, Credit Risk, you will deliver strategies that drive product growth and optimization for the private label retail business. You will own and manage credit risk strategies, including population segmentation, evaluation of new data sources, and product/price optimization across the credit spectrum. The role involves optimizing strategies to drive new account originations and deliver incremental profit, while communicating complex topics to colleagues, management, and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate new data and partner data sources for underwriting and line assignment strategies using statistical analysis techniques such as CHAID Decision Trees, optimization procedures, loss forecasting, enhanced process monitoring, and data quality analyses.
- Develop and monitor customized manual underwriting processes.
- Work with Segment, Strategic Analytics, and Decision Science teams to ensure project completion within agreed time frames and client satisfaction.
- Analyze, validate, track, and monitor delivered projects.
- Interact with Business Development and Client Management to discuss new opportunities and changes to client portfolios.
- Deliver profitable growth through the development of new strategies and optimization of existing strategies by assessing credit risk and P&L drivers.
- Develop and maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
- Create strategies focusing on growth, profitability, and competitive success while catering to consumer needs.
- Apply knowledge of credit card regulations in the development, implementation, and monitoring of credit strategies.
- Perform ad-hoc and recurrent credit risk analytical work.
- Collaborate across the business (Risk, Marketing, Business Development) to drive highly visible and impactful projects.
- Communicate strategies to management and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of Credit Card Industry experience.
- Fundamental knowledge of credit scoring, underwriting, and credit risk management.
- Familiarity with credit card industry concepts, practices, and metrics across credit policy, credit risk, and loss forecasting.
- Extensive experience working hands-on with SAS/SQL or equivalent to independently write queries for reports and ad-hoc analyses.
- Proficiency in analytical or reporting tools such as SAS, R, Python, or Tableau.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
