VP, Clinical Performance

About the Role

As the Vice President of Clinical Performance, you will provide physician clinical leadership to direct and advance enterprise-wide efforts to improve the value (clinical quality, patient safety, patient experience, access, cost) of care provided to Somatus patients. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, you will partner closely with the SVP of Clinical Operations and broader clinical operations teams to assess performance across payor-product partners and geographies, ensuring market-leading performance. You will collaborate with clinical data analytics and actuarial teams to develop, refine, and deploy clinical performance population health initiatives and interventions. This role is a key member of the corporate clinical leadership team, focusing on total cost of care (TCOC) improvement and value-based care performance.

Responsibilities

• Provide physician leadership for all aspects of value-based care performance, including multi-payor total cost of care management, clinical quality outcome management, patient safety, and NCQA HEDIS quality performance.
• Analyze, interpret, and apply healthcare payor claims data (e.g., $PMPM, Unit/1000, $$/Unit metrics) to identify opportunities for improving total cost of care and clinical quality outcomes.
• Serve as a clinical subject matter expert and resource for clinical program and training teams, leveraging experience in inpatient and outpatient care delivery to assess appropriate utilization and reduce avoidable acute care utilization.
• Conduct and/or support quality improvement and outcomes studies related to clinical quality, total cost of care management, and avoidable acute care utilization.
• Engage with physician leaders across payor and provider partners to identify and operationalize collaboration opportunities for improving outcomes for shared patient populations.
• Lead the enterprise-wide patient safety program and monitor member satisfaction survey results to optimize patient experience.
• Assist with the contracting process for providers and evaluate the medical aspects of provider contracts.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new information, capabilities, and technologies in value-based clinical performance within health plans, ACOs, and value-based providers.
• Support patient stratification, continuous evaluation, and restratification of members for appropriate resource allocation.
• Provide written and verbal presentations to executive leadership and represent Somatus at medical group meetings and conferences.
• Lead, attract, and manage top talent to achieve the highest and best use of resources.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited medical school with an M.D. degree.
• Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in clinical practice.
• Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in value-based care settings.
• Track record of driving process, quality, and cost outcomes while improving patient care, satisfaction, and outcomes.
• Leadership experience managing people, programs, and resources.

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA or Master’s degree in healthcare or a related field.
• Three (3) years of clinical performance and value-based care leadership experience.
• Board certification in internal medicine, nephrology, or family medicine.

Pay

$210,000 to $250,000 per year. Compensation reflects market conditions and recognizes skills, experience, and contributions. The final offer may vary based on qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and geographic location. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary performance-based bonus.
