VP, Branch Manager

About the role

The Branch Manager at Cathay Bank is responsible for the overall success of the branch, focusing on retaining banking relationships and developing new business. The role involves managing and supervising the entire staff, making business development calls, overseeing staff training, and representing the bank in the community.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the branch to meet administrative, compliance, operational, sales, and service objectives.
• Solicit new business (loans, deposits) and improve services to clients through regular business development calls.
• Train and guide staff to provide clients with appropriate bank products and services.
• Maintain and enhance business relationships with clients.
• Set and manage sales and service plans for the branch staff.
• Monitor and control expenses, ensuring a satisfactory branch audit.
• Coach and counsel staff members, addressing human resource issues when needed.
• Exercise sound judgment and provide appropriate guidance to staff.
• Oversee operations staff to ensure compliance with bank guidelines.
• Represent the bank in the community through involvement in various civic and charitable activities.

Qualifications

• College degree in business or finance preferred.
• At least 3-5 years banking experience, including 2 years in branch management in a commercial bank.
• Good knowledge of commercial lending products and thorough understanding of federal/state and IRS regulations.
• Leadership qualities: planning, organizing, motivating, supervising, delegating, creating a team environment, making decisions, assuming responsibility, exercising sound judgment, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Bilingual Mandarin or Cantonese preferred.

Skills/Ability

• Strong sales and sales management abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to conduct business development calls.

Pay

$85K – $110K / year, pay determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This position may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
