VP, Branch Manager

About the role

The Branch Manager at Cathay Bank is responsible for the overall success of the branch, focusing on retaining banking relationships and developing new business. The role involves managing and supervising the entire staff, making business development calls, overseeing staff training, and representing the bank in the community.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the branch office to meet administrative, compliance, operational, sales, and service objectives.
• Solicit new business (loans, deposits) and improve services to clients through regular business development calls.
• Train and guide staff to provide quality service to clients.
• Represent the bank in the community through various civic and charitable activities.
• Maintain compliance with bank policies and procedures and ensure non-discriminatory practices.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
• Set and manage sales and service plans for branch staff.
• Develop and implement sales programs and campaigns.
• Hold weekly sales/service meetings for briefings and debriefings.
• Motivate staff to increase sales and provide excellent service.
• Supervise training of staff on product knowledge, sales, and service techniques.
• Build and enhance business relationships with clients.
• Make business development calls to solicit loans and maintain client relationships.
• Maintain and enhance business relationships with clients.
• Set and monitor the branch's budget and business goals.
• Control expenses and ensure a satisfactory branch audit.
• Coach and counsel staff members when needed.
• Arrange for appropriate training and cross-training of staff.
• Address and resolve human resource issues when needed.
• Understand and apply personnel policies and procedures fairly.
• Exercise discretion and judgment in resolving errors and client complaints.
• Hire and fire staff with the approval of senior management and HR.

Qualifications

• College degree in business or finance preferred.
• At least 3-5 years banking experience, including 2 years in branch management in a commercial bank.
• Good knowledge of commercial lending products.
• Thorough knowledge of federal/state and IRS regulations.

Skills/Ability

• Leadership qualities: planning, organizing, motivating, supervising, delegating.
• Accountability: making decisions and assuming responsibility for those decisions.
• Strong sales and sales management abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills necessary for conducting business development calls.
• Bilingual Mandarin or Cantonese preferred.

The pay range for this position is $85K – $110K per year, with the possibility of a discretionary bonus.
