About The Opportunity
As the Vice President of Accounting Transformation & Controls, your mission is to institutionalize excellence within the Wonder Accounting function by owning and operationalizing our public-readiness roadmap. Leveraging preliminary assessments and frameworks established by our outside advisory partners, you will lead the "Pre-SOX" era—professionalizing our internal processes, automating the month-end close, and ensuring our financial systems (ERP, Billing, Payroll, etc.) are robust and scalable. Serving as a key strategic partner to the CAO, you will act as the primary engine for execution and special projects, ensuring that as Wonder scales, our accounting infrastructure is never a bottleneck.
The Impact You Will Make
- Accounting Process Optimization & Alignment: Take full ownership of existing public company readiness assessments for core accounting cycles (Revenue, Procure-to-Pay, Fixed Assets, Inventory).
- 50/50 IT-Accounting Bridge: IT (Fintech): Partner with the Fintech team to drive system recommendations and controls, ensuring the data flowing from the Wonder App/Kitchen systems into the General Ledger is complete and accurate (automated reconciliations, data integrity checks). Business (Accounting Operations): Partner laterally with Group Controllers to streamline and automate manual accounting workflows based on identified gaps. Implement "continuous close" mentalities and eliminate reliance on complex, error-prone spreadsheets.
- SOX Readiness (Operationalizing the Framework): Formalize and embed the internal control framework inside the accounting house using our advisors' blueprints. Establish the Key Controls, refine "Standard Operating Procedures" (SOPs), and ensure the function is operating with SOX-level discipline well ahead of schedule.
- Transformation PMO: Lead the project management office for the implementation or optimization of accounting-specific software (e.g., NetSuite enhancements, BlackLine, FloQast, or automated T&E systems) required to meet our transformation milestones and ensure the Company is ready to operate as a public company. Act as the strategic liaison between the Fintech team and the accounting organization to ensure business needs are fully supported.
- Vendor & Advisor Management: Oversee and manage strategic relationships with outsourced testing and advisory firms, ensuring their insights are seamlessly integrated into the team's continuous improvement cycle and yield a high ROI.
What You Bring To The Table
- Experience: 12+ years of progressive leadership experience. A "Recovering Auditor" who transitioned into leading Accounting Operations, Financial Systems, or a transformation PMO function at a high-growth company.
- The "Execution" Specialist: A proven track record of taking complex consultant gap analyses/blueprints and successfully converting them into streamlined, automated, and "auditable" accounting realities.
- System Savvy: Deep technical comfort; the ability to speak "ERP" and data architecture just as fluently as "GAAP."
- Diplomat & Implementation Leader: Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively as a peer to senior leaders (Group Controllers, VPs of Finance) on risk areas, combined with the heavyweight PM skills required to help accounting teams adopt and execute new, standardized ways of working.
