About the role

To develop and optimize public transit systems, but also to boost the economy and quality of life, in order to make distances feel shorter and bring people together.

As a Fixed Route Bus Operator, you will act as the front-line point of contact to ensure delivery of quality customer service while safely operating several types of buses through light to heavy city and freeway traffic.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate buses and transport passengers courteously according to specified routes.
• Make only designated stops in the order prescribed, unless otherwise communicated by the Dispatch Office, to ensure route optimization.
• Comply with all federal, state, and local laws regarding bus operation, traffic, and safety.
• Deliver the highest quality of bus service to customers, assisting them in a safe, friendly, courteous, and helpful manner, including helping customers with disabilities on and off the wheelchair lift.
• Assist with safety restraints as requested by customers.
• Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.
• Operate all equipment safely and efficiently, including farebox, lift, radio, emergency equipment, hatches, and rear engine compartment door.
• Perform pre-trip inspections and complete DVIR in accordance with FMCSR to ensure bus and equipment are in safe, proper working condition.
• Coordinate detour, accident, and incident information with radio dispatch and respond to instructions given.
• Make effective independent decisions and manage conflicts based on safety, experience, training, and policies.
• Follow procedures for fare collection, processing, documentation, and passenger counting.
• Report and properly follow up on all accidents or unusual incidents involving RATP Dev vehicles.
• Provide information to passengers in a courteous, efficient manner.
• Properly operate small bus/van over prescribed route, following a manifest, and complete daily manifest including pick-up/drop-off times and odometer readings.
• Secure wheelchairs, operate lift, and prepare written reports on accidents and incidents.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
• Must have a valid driver’s license for at least 3 years.
• Must pass a DOT Physical exam.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must have or be able to obtain a CDL Class B permit or license with a passenger endorsement (CDL training provided).

Pay

Starting pay is $19.25 per hour.

Bonus Incentive: Fully licensed CDL drivers will receive $2,000 after 6 months and an additional $1,000 after 12 months.
