Volunteer Youth Basketball Coach

The Hennepin County Human Services and Public Health Department (HSPHD) is offering a postgraduate Management, Administration and Policy (MAP) Fellowship to develop adaptive and diverse new leaders for the organization. The mission of HSPHD is to “Strengthen individuals, families and communities by increasing safety and stability, promoting self-reliance and livable income, and improving the health of our communities.”

About the role

The MAP Fellow will gain a broad-based leadership-level experience in local government management, focusing on the overall functioning of a large, urban government service delivery system.

Responsibilities

• Technical Policy/Project Management: Technical enhancements of social services functions, a technical project to improve department efficiency.
• Service Area Program/Policy Implementation: Legislative activities, public input components, program development.

Requirements

• Completed a Master’s or PhD program in Public Administration, Business Administration, Human Services Administration, Public Policy, Finance, Technical Communications or related field within 36 months prior to starting the Fellowship.
• Experience working with diverse ethnic populations.
• A strong interest in working in local government.
• Leadership and communication skills, a systems perspective, and interest in strategic planning.
• Experiences in Public Policy, Planning, Finance, Information Technology, Management, Communications, or Project Management.

Candidates must demonstrate successful experiences working with diverse ethnic populations, show a strong interest in local government, possess leadership and communication skills, a systems perspective, and interest in strategic planning. They should also have relevant experiences in Public Policy, Planning, Finance, Information Technology, Management, Communications, or Project Management.

The MAP Fellow will need to have skills in Public Policy, Planning, Finance, Information Technology, Management, Communications, and Project Management.

Benefits

The MAP Fellow will receive Paid-Time-Off (PTO) and a one-time $5,250 tuition reimbursement while participating in the program.

The MAP Fellow will work full-time for 12 months.
