Volunteer Treasurer

Manitoba Writers’ Guild is a not-for-profit arts organization providing professional and individual support for Manitoba writers at all career stages. We are currently operated by dedicated volunteer office workers and board members.

Responsibilities

• Follow the Guild’s Governance Manual
• Ensure all revenues are deposited into the Guild’s bank account
• Oversee an independent audit from an outside accounting firm
• Act as a signing officer along with the President and Past President
• Monitor financial operations to ensure alignment with the Guild’s goals
• Present the budget, on behalf of the Finance Committee, to the Board for approval
• Serve as a Guild Director and report monthly to the Board

Requirements

• Accounting knowledge or experience as a treasurer/finance officer (assets)
• Orientation and training provided
• Works with the Guild’s bookkeeper and website designer

Open to candidates aged 18 and over. Flexible hours available, including daytime, evening, weekend, and remote volunteering.

Locations: Assiniboine South, Downtown, Elmwood, Fort Garry, Inkster, Point Douglas, River East, River Heights, Seven Oaks, St. Boniface, St. James-Assiniboia, St. Vital, Transcona.

No criminal record check or child abuse registry check required. Training and orientation provided.
