Position Summary

The Volunteer Program Manager will implement the Volunteer Services Strategies for Recruitment, Onboarding and Engagement of individual and group volunteers to supplement BMC staff resources. Reports to Director of Volunteer Services.

About the Role

Works with department heads to conduct a comprehensive volunteer needs assessment for BMCHS activities at all BMCHS locations.

Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of volunteer engagement in the Workday System
  • Manages volunteer availability, engagement and scheduling through Vsys, the volunteer management software system
  • Affords recruiting volunteers through local media, web, social media and outreach in partnership with Marketing and Communications
  • Develops/reviews/updates volunteer handbook for internal use that provides policy, information and guidelines for staff and volunteers
  • Affords scheduling volunteers into shift work for BMC activities, based on departmental needs and organizational priorities
  • Works to keep volunteers properly informed about the BMC and their duties, through orientation meetings, group sessions, newsletters, emails and phone calls
  • Ensures proper background checks are performed
  • Ensures compliance and clearance with Occupational Health
  • Facilitates ID badges for volunteers
  • Works with appropriate staff to ensure volunteers are properly trained in their area of service
  • Manages quantitative data for Volunteer Services Dashboard (KPIs)
  • Conducts biannual Volunteer Satisfaction surveys
  • Recruit and manage Volunteer Services department volunteers
  • Oversee the Junior Summer Volunteer Program
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Working knowledge of best practices in volunteer coordination
  • Recruiting, screening, and training experience

Education

Minimum 3 years of program coordination and project management experience.

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of working with the public in formal and informal settings

Compensation

Compensation Range: $66,000.00 - $96,000.00
