About the role
The Art Program Volunteer facilitates weekly one‑hour art sessions for tenants at Avalon’s Hickory Way location. Volunteers set up the space, guide tenants through their projects, and clean up after each session. The role is unpaid, but approved expenses related to the volunteer work are reimbursed.
Responsibilities
- Set‑up: cover the table and fill water containers for paint brushes.
- During the session: monitor, supply, and organize art supplies; communicate with Avalon staff about supply needs; set up project materials for arriving tenants; assist tenants with their projects as needed.
- Clean‑up: wipe down tables, dump paint water, sweep, mop, break down supplies, and secure the premises.
Qualifications
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations in a non‑judgmental manner.
- Team‑oriented mindset.
- Highly positive, enthusiastic attitude with a strong commitment to helping those in need.
- Minimum three‑month commitment preferred.
Physical Demands
Volunteers may need to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
Schedule
Monday – Friday, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM (any day within that window).
Pay
This is an unpaid, voluntary role. Direct and approved expenses related to the role will be reimbursed.
