Volunteer Opportunities

Responsibilities

• VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) volunteers prepare taxes or provide site support through the VITA tax preparation program.
• Childcare Volunteers provide direct childcare for children 6 months to 12 years old while parents/guardians participate in Goodwill onsite programming.
• Retail Volunteers assist Donation Attendants to bring in donations, move materials, and sort products.
• Retail Volunteers assist Retail Associates by putting merchandise on the sales floor & rotating merchandise.
• Retail Volunteers assist Retail Associates with various cleaning and organizing duties.
• Special Project/Event Volunteers participate in events in the community such as donation drives, program-specific events, and special retail sales events.

Requirements

• VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) volunteers complete tax preparer training (40 hours).
• Childcare Volunteers complete CPR/First Aid training within 3 months of volunteering, successfully pass national background check (for non-minors), complete childcare orientation (one hour), and commit to a specific schedule.
• Retail Volunteers complete Retail Orientation (2 hours) and commit to a specific schedule.
• Special Project/Event Volunteers complete Event Volunteer Training (2 hours) and commit to a year or for a specific event.
