About the role

The Donovan’s Venom runs on volunteers. More people. More roles. More capacity. But without structure—volunteers become underutilized. We are seeking a Volunteer Operations Manager to ensure volunteers are effectively onboarded, assigned, supported, and retained across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Match volunteers to roles based on: skills, availability, and organizational needs
  • Ensure volunteers are actively contributing
  • Support the full volunteer lifecycle: onboarding, active engagement, transitions/offboarding
  • Identify volunteer needs across teams and ensure proper coverage and support
  • Work with HR, programs, and operations to integrate volunteers into teams
  • Maintain clear communication with volunteers and teams, ensuring expectations are understood
  • Monitor volunteer engagement levels and identify and address drop-off or disengagement
  • Improve retention through structure and communication
  • Track volunteer assignments, activity, and utilization
  • Build and improve processes for volunteer placement, tracking, and engagement
  • Identify gaps in volunteer coverage or utilization and reassign or adjust as needed
  • Support continuous improvement in how volunteers are used across the organization

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in operations, volunteer management, workforce coordination
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience managing multiple workflows or people

Qualifications

  • Experience in nonprofit or volunteer-based organizations preferred
  • Familiarity with tracking or workforce tools preferred
