About the role

This is an opportunity to work with an Ashoka Fellow – a leading social entrepreneur selected through a rigorous process for innovative system‑change ideas. The affiliated organization empowers individuals and organizations to achieve their full potential through innovative capacity‑building solutions, delivering transformative training that bridges theory and practice to create job creators rather than job seekers. The Freedom Rhythm Initiative (Rehabilitation & Skill Hub Campaign) is a music‑driven recovery project that uses Rap, Reggae, and Rock tracks to raise funds and awareness for building a specialized rehabilitation and skills development center. The physical hub will house training facilities for creative arts, technology, sustainable agriculture, and green energy. The primary goal is to drive online engagement, streaming, and digital visibility for the project's music releases to raise funds and attract donors/sponsors. The secondary goal is to reach individuals battling addiction with an empowering message of recovery while establishing a sustainable funding stream through music monetization, crowdfunding, and digital campaigns.

Responsibilities

  • Digital Music Promotion: Plan and execute online marketing campaigns across streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube) to maximize plays and digital reach.
  • Social Media & Content Strategy: Create engaging campaigns (short‑form videos, teasers, stories) around the Rap, Reggae, and Rock tracks to highlight the mission and drive traffic to the fundraising page.
  • Crowdfunding Support: Integrate music releases with online fundraising tools, directing listeners and supporters to donate toward the rehabilitation center's construction.
  • Audience Growth & Playlist Pitching: Pitch releases to relevant playlist curators, music bloggers, and online communities focused on music for social impact, recovery, and independent arts.

Requirements

  • Language: English proficiency required.

Skills

  • Digital Music Promotion & Distribution – DSP Optimization: Mastery of Spotify for Artists, Apple Music for Artists, and YouTube Studio to optimize profiles, pitch releases to editorial playlists, and track listener demographics.
  • Independent Playlist Outreach: Ability to build relationships with independent playlist curators, music bloggers, and radio programmers within Rap, Reggae, and Rock niches.
  • Social Media & Short‑Form Content Strategy – Platform Expertise: Proficiency in driving organic reach on TikTok, Instagram (Reels), and YouTube Shorts using music trends and audio snippets.
  • Visual Storytelling: Basic video editing and copywriting skills to convert raw studio footage and mission updates into compelling social posts.
  • Crowdfunding & Funnel Optimization – Conversion Strategy: Ability to set up conversion funnels that guide casual music listeners from “streaming a track” to “donating on a crowdfunding landing page” (e.g., GoFundMe, Kickstarter, or a custom site).
  • Ad Management: Experience running low‑budget target ads (Meta Ads Manager, Google/YouTube Ads) aimed at music lovers and philanthropy‑minded audiences.
  • Cause‑Marketing & Public Relations – Impact Storytelling: Skill in framing the project's core message—replacing addiction with skills in tech, arts, green energy, and agriculture—into press releases for news outlets, music magazines, and social impact blogs.
  • Community Engagement: Capability to nurture an online community of supporters, turning passive listeners into brand advocates and regular donors.

Pay

This is an unpaid, volunteer opportunity.

Schedule
