Volunteer: GitHub Submodule Architecture for React Native App
About the role
This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections. Our team would like to partner with a pro bono consultant who can help us design and implement a GitHub submodule structure for the existing React Native codebase, migrate shared components/modules into appropriate submodules, configure repository layout and dependency management, resolve build/integration issues across repos, and deliver clear workflow and best-practices documentation.

Requirements
A clean submodule architecture will improve maintainability and release reliability for our platform that connects patients with providers and major EHR systems. This work will speed feature delivery, reduce integration friction, and help the team more quickly deliver tools that increase access, advocacy, and empowerment for people with complex diseases.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have experience with React Native, Git, and GitHub submodules. Familiarity with EHR systems and patient advocacy platforms is a plus.

Benefits
We will collaborate with the volunteer to review the current codebase and repo layout, provide context on build issues, schedule regular check-ins, and validate merges and builds before handoff. The volunteer will produce runnable changes and documentation the team can follow.
