Responsibilities
- Fire Suppression: Respond promptly to fire alarms and emergencies, including structure fires, vehicle fires, and wildfires.
- Operate firefighting equipment such as hoses, extinguishers, and pumps to extinguish fires and protect life and property.
- Conduct search and rescue operations to locate and evacuate individuals trapped in burning buildings or other hazardous situations.
- Perform fire prevention activities, including conducting inspections and educating the public about fire safety.
- Emergency Medical Response: Provide emergency medical care to individuals at the scene of accidents, medical emergencies, and other incidents.
- Assess patients' conditions and administer basic life support (BLS) interventions, including CPR, bleeding control, and airway management.
- Assist paramedics with advanced life support (ALS) procedures as needed, including administering medications and operating defibrillators.
- Safely transport patients to medical facilities while providing ongoing medical care and monitoring vital signs.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be enrolled in EMT School or have plans to go through EMT school.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Pass a background check, drug screen, and physical.
- Physical fitness and agility to perform demanding tasks in various environmental conditions.
- Ability to work well under pressure and make quick, sound decisions in emergency situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to commit to training requirements and respond to emergency calls on a rotating basis, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- No prior experience necessary; comprehensive training will be provided.
