VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER
About the Department
Since 1919, Tooele City's fire protection has been provided primarily by volunteers. We carry a roster of 55 active First-Class Volunteer Firefighters, many of whom serve for decades and eventually move to our senior roster where they remain affiliated with the department passing down their knowledge and leadership. As Volunteer Firefighters, we are proud of our work ethic, committed to protecting the life and safety of our neighbors, their property, and the environment. We answer the call when someone is in need, committed to serving our City with the highest quality of professionalism and to ongoing training and professional development. We are stewards of our long-standing traditions while progressing forward to meet the changing needs of our City. We also offer one of the best fire prevention programs in the State of Utah and see our outreach programs as vital to connecting with and educating our community on fire prevention and safety. We meet weekly on Wednesday evenings for business meeting or training and respond to calls for service within our City and when mutual aid is needed.
